This page contains a list of questions frequently asked by our customers. If you can't find the answer to your question here, feel free to get in touch with us. (details on the contact page.)
When can I visit? Appointments are available Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 – 4:30, and Saturdays, 10:00 – 12:00.
Are out of hours visits possible? These are available only for clients who simply cannot see us during normal hours. For example, couples coming to Bristol from London for the weekend to arrange dress, venues, cake etc.
Where can I find you? There is a map on the contact page. You are welcome to park in our drive or courtyard, though we realize the turning in can be a bit daunting on your first visit.
Do you cater for allergies? Our premises are 100% nut free. We also cater for gluten intolerance.
Is delivery possible? Yes. We regularly deliver and/or set up locally and further afield. After 18 years, we are very well known at most of the finer venues in our area.
Will my cake melt? Definitely not. Our delivery van is fully refrigerated; and we never set up a cake where direct sunlight can fall on it at any time during the day, so you can relax.
Can I collect? Yes. We will carefully design your cake to ensure that it will travel to the venue without any problems. We can pack your cake in a double insulated cardboard box, which will keep it perfect, even if you’re going to Penzance in August! Please note, however, that some designs (notably "fruit extravaganza") have to be delivered and set up by us on the day.
Do I need to refrigerate? No. We actually recommend not putting your cake into the fridge until after it has been cut.
Will it keep? For two weeks in the fridge, or two years in a freezer. Ask us for our "Cake Keeping Guide."
How does payment work? We ask for 50% on booking , plus a £200 stand/knife deposit. Balance due one month before.
How can I pay? By cheque, postal order or cash. We do not take credit or Switch cards.
Can I personalise my cake? We have done hundreds of designs over the years, from the Taj Mahal, to a blue whale and an illuminated art deco cinema. We also crystallize roses, freesias, anemones and other flowers. We make sugar hearts and stars, hand painted with dates, names etc. So don’t be shy. If we can’t do it, it probably can’t be done!
When do I need to book? The more notice the better. If you call us now and give us a rough outline as to number, venue etc, we will pencil you into our diary. There is no obligation. All we ask is that you call us back to let us know if you decide not to use us.
Can I serve my cake as a pudding? Always ask your venue or caterer if this is possible. You should increase your cake size by 50%. We will provide sufficient extra chocolate to decorate every plated pudding portion (mini chocolate scrolls, for example)
I want evening guests to see the cake. No problem. If we provide a "cutting cake" for the kitchen to serve to your day guests, your entire cake can magically reappear in the evening. This costs much less than providing two fully decorated wedding cakes.
